Después de 67 vueltas al circuito de Hockenheim, Hamilton remontó 13 posiciones y cruzó la meta en el primer puesto por delante de Valtteri Bottas y Kimi Raikkonen segundo y tercero tras una carrera lluviosa que provocó el accidente de un Vettel.
